Happy New Year to you all! How are you doing? Are you feeling happy? They say that during the holidays people are more depressed than any other time of the year. I pray that, that was not the case for you dear reader and you were able to experience some joy this holiday season. If nothing else, you are alive and well enough to read this blog, therefor we must be thankful for all of our blessings.
So, now is the time that everyone, begins to contemplate their new year's resolutions! Most people (myself included) start their list off by saying they want to have a healthier lifestyle and lose weight. If you notice the commercials popping up around this time, you will see that they are geared to weight loss wannabe's like myself. The commercials portray gimmicks and quick fix pills that promise to help get the weight off quickly. However, if you know better, you know that those things will not substitute the dedication and discipline that is required to make lasting change. But, no one wants to hear that right?
So what's on your list of things to change this year? And what will make this year different than the year before? Are you really ready to make lasting change this year or will your resolutions be forgotten before January even ends? I know, it's not easy. I too have given up too easily on my goals in the past, because it was "just too hard". It just seemed like, every time I set out to do something like change my diet or exercise more, I went in the opposite direction. I ate more and I was just as inactive, if not worse.
So this year, I will refrain from listing a set of specific resolutions or goals. What I have chosen to do instead, is to work on strengthening my spirituality and my mind. I believe that working on myself from the inside out, will have a domino effect on everything else in my life. For it is the mind that causes us to give up on our resolutions or goals, therefor the problem lies in the mind. It is not that the goal is too difficult. It's that the mind and spirit are not strong enough to implement the discipline and focus needed to be successful. Think about it and tell me what you think? Do you agree? If you don't agree and you do have a list, I wish you massive success and a very happy new year!
